Lying On Your Resume Could Cost You Your Job!

Bangalore: Let’s face the fact that most job aspirants are ready to go to any level to land a lucrative job offer. Some offer bribes and land backdoor entry, while others opt to fudge their job applications to exaggerate or hide facts. But they fail to realize that such mistakes can be very costly and may jeopardize their whole career.



Hills & Associates, a global consulting firm recently conducted a detailed survey regarding the misrepresentation of facts in resumes or job applications. Take a look at the some of the findings of the survey, as reported by The Economic Times.



As per the survey, the four common areas in which most job applicants exaggerate facts are employment verification, educational verification, negative reference feedback, and address verification. 63.4 percent of the respondents, who are senior level management officials of top 90 companies in the country, feel that employment verification is the area where most candidates exaggerate facts. 13.1 percent think that educational verification is the area which is generally exaggerated with fraudulent entries. 16.7 percent believe that negative reference feedbacks are generally misrepresented with fake entries, whereas 4.8 percent deem address verification information is generally tampered with.
