2. Waiting It Out

Mentor: Harsh Goenka, Chairman, RPG Enterprises

Prodigy:  Ganesh Natarajan, CEO and VC, Zensar Technologies

As per Ganesh Natarajan, his mentor was the biggest reason behind his association with the firm for 13 long years. And he added that when he detached from Aptech and joined Zensar in July 2001, he had expected to turn around the fortunes of his company within a very short notice. But unfortunately that didn’t happen and he had to approach his chairman to reason out why his strategies failed to have an impact.

This is what Goenka told him at that time, "It is wrong to believe changes will happen overnight, and no one expects that out of you. You cannot be the monkey on a flagpole who has to perform all the time."

At this point Ganesh Natarajan realized that some strategies demand patience, and garner benefits a few years down the line.

Lessons Taught by Harsh Goenka-

“Long-term investments along with short term fixed ones are needed”

“Results cannot be achieved overnight”

“One needs to invest in employees”
