3. McMurdo Station, Antarctica:



McMurdo Station was established in 1955 and is currently the hub of U.S. Antarctic Program. It is located on Hut Point Peninsula in the southern tip of Antarctica and is third on the list of worst destinations for IT professionals.



It is the largest community in on the Antarctic continent and is capable of supporting 1,258 inhabitants. It comprises of a functional, modern day science station with over 100 buildings, water installation facilities, dormitories, a power plant, a fire house, a helipad, a harbor and even three ice runways.  During summer the population of this station reaches up to 1000 personals, and falls to about 250 in the winter. And most of the residents of this station are scientists and other support workers.



The station is in a constant need of software support, IT training and a round the clock help desk to be functional. The harsh environment and freezing temperatures are biggest deterrents for IT professionals.
