Belgium



Employees working very long hours: 4 percent



Employment rate of women with children: 63 percent



Time devoted to leisure and personal care: 16.61 hours



According to OECD people in Belgium work 1550 hours a year, one of the lowest rates in the OECD and lower than the average of 1739 hours. And 4 percent of employees work very long hours, much lower than the OECD average of 9 percent, with 7 percent of men working very long hours compared with just 2 percent for women.



And when it comes to education, in Belgium 70 percent of adults aged 25-64 have earned the equivalent of a high-school degree, close to the OECD average of 74 percent.



However, in general the  Belgians are more satisfied with their lives than the OECD average, where 83 percent of people saying they have more positive experiences in an average day like (feelings of rest, pride in accomplishment, enjoyment, etc) than negative ones (pain, worry, sadness, boredom, etc). This figure is slightly higher than the OECD average of 80 percent.
