8. Panjab University, Chandigarh



This university is another gem from the past that continues to shine and is giving light to millions of young aspirants in our country.



The modern day Panjab University traces its beginning to the Punjab University that was established in 1882 at Lahore, which is now in Pakistan. After the partition of India post independence, the university was split into two. To distinguish the two, the name of university on the Indian side was altered from Punjab University to Panjab University.



Panjab University offers numerous courses and supports cutting edge research in the field Science, Engineering & Technology, Humanities, Commerce, Social Sciences, Performing Arts and Sports. And the university is home to 75 teaching and research establishments/departments, and in addition houses 15 chairs/centers for teaching and research at the central campus situated in the city of Chandigarh.
