Major Layoffs of the Year 2011

Gannett Co:



The U.S newspaper division Gannett Co’s President Bob Dickey announced that to reduce cost there will be layoffs in the company. According to him, their will be a job cut around 700 employees or 2 percent of the company’s overall workforce.



This layoff is the single largest round since July 2009, when the news paper division had eliminated about 1,400 jobs in that year.This would become the fourth mass layoff since August 2008, reports the Gannett Blog.
