IITs Loses Its Sheen; Top Tech Conglomerates Skip Placements This Year

Bangalore: Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) seems to be losing their sheen on the global stage. This is mirrored by the fact that top tech conglomerates such as Facebook have chosen to stay away from the country’s premier institutes this placement season, reports Yogita Rao, TNN.



Contrary to previous year, where the social networking giant participated actively and offered several lucrative offers, this year is pretty disappointing. The firm has not even made an effort to register for placements at any of the IITs, which has taken the shine away from ‘Placements 2013’.



Placement coordinators exclaimed to TOI that, while the current global economic slowdown seems to have little or no impact on the number of companies registered for placements at the IITs, the absence of big players is not a positive sign.
