IIM-A Tweaks Admission Policy; Will have Fewer Engineers in 2014

Bangalore: The dominance of engineers in top B-schools in the country such as IIM-A (Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad) may cease in the coming season. In a significant move to encourage students from non-engineering backgrounds IIM-A has made changes in its admission policy. It has decided to increase the number of admissions for students from non-engineering background by a staggering 14 percent, as reported by Chitra Unnithan for TNN.

The current year witnessed 4 percent admission of students from non-technical background, while the next year is expected to witness 18 percent.

Additionally, students who lack work experience or a postgraduate degree will also benefit from the new admission policy, since the institute has decided not to award any extra points for work experience or for a Master's degree.
