BENGALURU: Despite India offering a plethora of opportunities to the women, many are of the view that gender pay gap still favors the men in the country.  On the other hand there are many nations that are embracing gender equality when it comes to workplace and pay structure. The wage gap and disparity is narrowing as per a survey by U.S.-based career resource website Glassdoor, reports ET. The survey reported that over 70 pct of adults in 7 developed countries are of the view that men and women are paid equally at work.

The survey was conducted in United States, Canada, United Kingdom, France, Germany, The Netherlands and Switzerland where 7 out of 10 adults believe that the women employees are paid same as their male counterparts for equal amount of work.

However, women believe to have suffered financially more than the men. Out of the total women surveyed, 70 pct disapprove of any discrimination in pay structure whereas 77pct out of the total men were of the same view.

In the meantime, World Economic Forum's Global Gender Gap Report said the progress on reaching parity at workplace is slow and it would take 80 years for closing the wage gap.

The global picture still struggles to overcome this inequality according to Glassdoor survey. The survey also noted that the sentiments and perceptions of the employees might differ from reality.

In addition to this, the survey revealed that a vast majority (89 pct) of the surveyed adults are of the same opinion the gender pay disparity should come to an end and there should be equality in the pay structure.  Of all the surveyed nations, America has the majority where 93 pct adults believe that men and women should be paid equally.
