"A lot of expansion opportunities are in online business and international business, areas where older managers have less of an advantage over younger ones," he said.



However, the young executives are not that much visible in traditional businesses such as FMCG, manufacturing, infrastructure, engineering and other brick-and-mortar industries, which still prefer experienced professionals in their top management roles.



Similarly, the young executives are not that much visible in top management roles at large corporate houses.



"Large corporate want a track record of success over a considerable period of time because stakes are much higher hence experience is considered to be the driving factor in these organizations," Puri said.



Taking a different view, Lighthouse Partners Managing Partner Rajiv Burman said that with "slowdown in the economy, a lot more effort is required to succeed and hence older profiles with more experience are increasing in value".
