Bangalore: At a time when the country’s engineering talent is heading towards subdued hiring, companies such as Samsung, Reliance Industries (RIL), Oracle and Flipkart have moved ahead and have emerged as the biggest recruiters at IITs, reports the Economic Times.

As per the information provided by top IITs, Samsung was the most active recruiter after the first round of placements. It hired extensively and offered nearly 271 offers, which is almost 100 more than its nearest competitor. The offers also included 69 PPOs (Pre-Placement Offers) and 28 postings in Korea.

Samsung increased its intake by about 71 percent compared to the previous year when it recruited 158 students.

A Samsung spokesperson said, "We focused on campus hiring for multiple reasons that is to strengthen our core competency in embedded computing and building new skills/capabilities in UX design, enterprise software and data analysis,” reports the Economic Times. It was also revealed that out of the 243 candidates selected for India, nearly 87 percent were recruited from software engineering background and the remaining from UX design background.
