Bangalore: India’s growing software credentials is making the world stand up and take notice. And the recent move by top conglomerates to have a greater number of employee presence in India than compared to their home nations is a great indication of this appreciation, reports Shilpa Phadnis and Sujit John of TNN.

IBM with a view to revamp its workforce has shifted its focus away from the U.S. and has opted to increase its workforce in India.  As per Alliance@IBM, which is IBM employee organization, as of 2012 there were 91,000 employees in the U.S. which is way less, compared to the figures of 2006. In the year 2006, it was claimed that there were 1,27,000 employees in the U.S.

Contrary to this trend, workforce in Indian has seen a sharp raise. As per the last figures provided by IBM in 2007, there were 73,000 employees in the country. And most of the latest estimates suggest nearly 50-60 thousand employees were added to the workforce in the last six years, taking the total employee count to a staggering 1.3 lakh.
