Bangalore: It is a well known fact that farm workers, construction workers and other skilled laborers earn mediocre salaries and struggle to lead a respectable life. But were you aware that well respected professionals such as firefighters, flight attendants and private detectives earned fairly meager pay packages too?



Here is a brief overview of 7 surprisingly low paying careers, as listed by Jacquelyn Smith of Forbes based on the data gathered by the Bureau of Labor Statics (BLS).



7. Radio and Television Announcers:



As the name indicates, these professionals work in broadcast media such as radio and television.



It takes more than just a winning smile to earn a living in this line of work and in most cases only mega-stars take home huge paychecks.  



As per the PayScale website, the average annual salary of these professionals is in the range of 3.60 lakhs. But most struggling radio or television announcers take home a poultry wage of around 1.59 lakhs.
