Most of us would get goosebumps by just thinking about this but when Europe was suffering from massive rat infestations, this job was a booming career option back then. Lamplighter
Before electric lamps were introduced to most cities, the street lamps were fueled by gas and to light these lamps up in the dawn, lamplighters were used. As these lights were lit each evening, generally by means of a wick on a long pole and in return get paid for the work done.
