Myth #6: You Should Always Keep Your Answer Short

There is a popular perception among people that recruiters expect short and crisp answers from the job applicants, which is not true. Don’t hesitate to speak out your mind during a job interview and if necessary, don’t shy away to speak at some length and give your all to convince that you are the best-fit for the open position.

Myth #5: There’s a Right Answer to Every Question

Hiring managers accept the fact no one is perfect and don’t except candidates to give correct answers all the time, and most of the time your thought process and how to approach the problem itself is more important than the actual answer.

Hence whenever you are presented with a hypothetical question, try to come out with a comparable situation from the past and inform how you dealt with the situation.

Myth #4: Give References’ Contact Information Right Away

Unless specifically asked, refrain from providing additional information such as references right away. You can also opt to delay it by offering to send the information about references in a mail. By doing so you are actually buying some valuable time to select the best reference and prepare your reference, by gently coaching them.
