Informational Power

This is a temporary power that doesn't essentially persuade or build credibility. For instance, consider a project manager. He will be having all the necessary information about a specific project and this will give him some amount of ‘informational power’. But it is hard for that individual to sustain this power for a prolonged period, as in due course this information is bound to reach everyone.

Reward Power

This power comes from an individual’s ability to give back to another person’s obedience/compliance, or it can be associated with the power that is exerted when a person encourage/motivate others by offering raises, awards and promotions.

For instance, consider a manager. He holds a certain amount of reward power since he is the one who administers performance reviews that determine raises and bonuses to his employees.
