BENGALURU: The recent scenario of rapidly changing technology indicates how people have become dependent on it including several areas such as educational, farming, factory, financial and many more. Thus, technology is being a big reason of worldwide manual force reduction where India has been found in a healthy position.

An article published in Business Insider India reports the findings of a study done by the World Economic Forum 2016 which highlights the significance of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. Additionally, it also predicts that in the next five to ten years, millions of jobs will be abolished.  An earlier report revealed by the bank of America-Merrill Lynch brings attention to the state of the unsafe job positions; especially in the US. Here is a glimpse of the scenario that exhibits how technology is taking places against human employment in several industrial sectors.

Agriculture: Technology has penetrated agriculture area and is enhancing the farm productivity by leaps and bounds through improved mechanization. The report states that because of the technology expansion, only 2% population of the US is directly involved in agriculture without any machinery input whereas India stands with 50% of direct employment ratio. This refers to a vulnerable condition of employment in agriculture sector.

Factory: The tech-country Japan has always pioneered new technologies replacing labour thus leading their workers to face unemployment.  They insist on keeping 1500 robots behind every 10,000 workers especially in automobile industry. It allows them to grow with magnificent production speed but also eliminates the direct employment opportunity. Similarly, the trend will soon be implemented in Indian factories and take over the manual worker’s scope within the field.

News and Media Firms: This industry has not escaped from this revolution either.  They have now the capability to publish almost error free reports in a bulk that maximizes company revenues but at the price of reduced employment opportunity for human reporters. According to Business Insider, almost 8.5% of total contents of Wikipedia are written by robots and the reason is attributed to the elevating pay structure of employees.

Educational: Now-a-days technology offers any time any where education options through online-education or e-learning option. The offering significantly diminishes the need to attend formal college or university for continuing higher studies. Thus, technology expansion on educational field leads institute owners to focus on more technology offerings instead of hiring teachers.

HealthCare Industry: The revolution of technology also infiltrated health care industry.  Watson, the IBM cognitive computing prototype can be categorized as the result of technology enhancement and its prowess is being leveraged for many different purposes in healthcare.  It has been anticipated that Watson will appear in the market with the ability to provide genuine, instant and free diagnosis of medical conditions. Additionally, smartphones, remote electronic health monitoring devices, and computerized medical history manifests unemployment of health care professionals within few years.

Accountants and Cashiers: In financial and account fields too people have become familiar with the fact that accounting software works faster than a human accountant does. On the other hand self-checkout systems allow people to pay in swipe only. This dramatically effects on the requirements of cashiers in supermarkets and large stores.

Software Firms: QA automation tools have been globally considered by several technology firms to note down their own testing codes. Simultaneously, it reduces QA process time that indicates great vulnerability on QA engineering jobs in next few years.
