Doctors, nurses, and pharmacists aren't the only white collar options in the health care industry. Medical records and health information technician job is another option for those who want to be in the health care profession.
Health information technicians are the individuals who organize and manage health information data. They ensure its quality, accuracy, accessibility and security by both manually and electronic systems. Although, most of their work is performed while seated at a desk, they may sometimes meet with nurses and other healthcare professionals to clarify on diagnoses and treatments.
A postsecondary certificate is typically needed, but workers may have an Associate's degree. An associate's in health information technology usually includes courses in classification and coding systems, anatomy, physiology, health care statistics, and more.
