#2. Spain

Jobless Rate: 27.2 Percent

Spain, the fourth largest economy in the euro zone, is the second on the list. The country plummeted into economic slump in the mid-2008 after the property bubble burst, sinking the key construction and services sectors within the country. This initiated massive layoffs and the unemployment numbers increased by more than two folds.

#1. Greece

Jobless Rate: 27.6 Percent

With an unemployment rate that jumped up almost 20 percent in the last 5 years, Greece has garnered the top position in the list. Prior to the financial meltdown in 2008, the economy of this vibrant country was regarded as one of the thriving economies in the Eurozone, and currently the situation is quite the opposite.

Nearly one out of five people in the country are out of work and a majority of those within the age of 18 to 24 are struggling to land a job. The once flourishing shipping and tourism sector is the worst hit in the country and more than a million companies in the nation have already bankrupted.
