Bangalore: As revealed by the ASSOCHAM survey, even amidst the sluggish economic growth and a decline of about 21 percent in new job generation across various sectors in India, cities such as Delhi-NCR (National Capital Region), Mumbai and Bangalore have managed to stay afloat and fare better than the rest.

According to the survey, Delhi-NCR topped the list with over 1,10,000 jobs being generated during January – December mid, while Mumbai generated over 77,000 jobs followed by Bangalore and Chennai, which generated around 75,000 and 44,000 jobs respectively. Kolkata generated the least number of jobs with over 25,000 jobs amongst the top five metropolitans of the country.

The ARB (ASSOCHAM Research Bureau) sourced their inputs primarily from figures tracked on a daily basis for vacancies posted by about 4,000 companies across various sectors via job portals and other job related advertisements published in local and national newspapers from about 56 cities and 32 sectors across India offering job opportunities.

Here is a detailed view of the top five job creating Indian cities and the major contributing sectors in respective cities, as reported on various sources.
