Perl





This programming language designed and developed by Nasa scientist Larry Wall, has many backronyms or full forms. The most popular one is Practical Extraction and Reporting Language. This text processing language came up in various versions in the market and the most widely accepted till now is Perl 5, which came in 2000. To access Perl you need to have two licenses - Artistic License and the GNU General Public License respectively. The Perl version that you can use in Windows is called Strawberry Perl.

Dennis M. Ritchie at the Bell Telephone Laboratories developed this primitive and old generic programming language. Competing with Java, this widely accepted programming language stands as the influence to programming languages like C++, D, Go, Rust, , JavaScript, Limbo, LPC, C#, Objective-C, Perl, PHP, Python and  Verilog. This ANS/ISO standard programming language has been used by operating systems like Windows, UNIX and Linux for their execution.
