University of Maryland is a public research university located in the city of College Park in Prince George's County, Maryland, Washington, D.C. It is a Public Ivy institution, with a quality of education comparable to those of the private Ivy League. To add on to that Maryland is also the largest university in the state and the largest in the Washington Metropolitan Area.
The university lands at number seven this year and it is the institutions sixth straight appearance in the top 10 list. Though the varsities low cost admissions programs help secure its spot in the top 10, its academics are nothing to shrug off. The university which admits fewer than half of its applicants, and its 18:1 student-faculty ratio gives students plenty of face time with professors.
