BENGALURU:  The Indian branded fabric and fashion retailer Raymond is getting ready in its Labs to replace employees with robots in the upcoming days. According to the recent reports, the company is planning to replace 10,000 jobs in its manufacturing centers across the country with robots in the coming three years.

The company has around 30000 staffs working in the 16 manufacturing units across the country. Raymond also informed that as part of the technical intervention, the company will scale down the number of employees to 20000 by adopting the latest technology and strategy. The company in addition reported that the newly developing robots are capable enough to replace 100 employees per robot.

There were reports that suggested automation would reduce employment opportunities in the software sector. The recent updates from Raymond are proof that the manufacturing sectors are also not far behind from automation.  As part of the technological advancements in various industrial sectors, automated robots will soon take over the jobs than expected. The recent reports from Raymond are the reflection of the upcoming technological advancements in Indian industries.  This had added up the fear of losing employment opportunities in the near future and misleads the perception that the threat of automation killing jobs in India may not be as real as it is in developed countries.
