ApnaCircle’s survey also took a look at the fresher segment, which stated that IT/Telecom still continues to top the list of their preferred industry with 18 percent, Banking/Finance with 15 percent and Marketing/Advertising/Media with 14 percent. The risk appetite, the numbers suggest has increased, as 16 percent of the students wish to be self-employed or become young age entrepreneurs. Despite the professionals venturing out to explore various aspects of their professional skills the fresher lot still continues pursuing traditional courses.

There are yet another 45 percent of professionals who choose to switch industry and pursue something different from their field of specialization. 34 percent say for job satisfaction, 28 percent for monetary reasons and 21 percent say their parents forced them to get into the educational specialization; hence they’d like to switch.

The survey not just highlights the new industry switch trend which might generate happy and satisfied professionals, leading to better productivity. But it also poses a question if the trend will leave the job market chaotic and leave it staving for skilled professionals.
