Dana Sinkler and Alex Dzieduszycki, Terra Chips: Before starting their own business, Dana Sinkler and Alex Dzieduszycki were working for star chef, Jean-Georges Vongerichten, at his four-star restaurant, Lafayette, in New York. Both were looking to create a signature dish to serve at the bar, but they wanted to create something different apart from the elaborate crudités platters that were quite popular at that time. They experimented with frying different vegetable roots in the kitchen of Sinkler’s tiny apartment in 1990, and proved to be quite fortunate as the vegetable chips were a hit amongst people. Soon after this, the Terra chips were brought by the pair in stores. A private equity group in 1995 bought 51 percent of the company, and few years later, in 1998 Hain Celestial bought the company, “Terra Chips” as part of $80 million package deal that included three other companies.  It is reported that the duo Sinkler and Dzieduszycki, have now moved on to new businesses,  Sinkler has opened a new restaurant named Hubee D’s and Dzieduszycki started, Julian’s Recipe, a frozen waffle line.
