JALANDHAR: Union HRD Minister Smriti Irani said her ministry was working on a new National Education Policy (NEP) which would be formed by December this year.

"Central government is guided by 'education for all' policy. We are working in this direction and NEP would be formed by December this year," Smriti said on the sidelines of a convocation ceremony at a girls college here.

She said suggestions in this regard have been invited from the education ministers of all the states.

"They have been asked to send their suggestions by November so that a universal education policy could be made for the whole country," she said.

Meanwhile, she rejected the speculation that she was dropped from BJP's national executive executive because of her differences with party chief Amit Shah.

"No. I have no differences with him. He is like an elder brother to me. And the government has already entrusted me with with a big responsibility," she said.
