MUMBAI:  A large number of Indians are optimistic about job opportunities in the country and has rated the national economy as 'good', according to a survey.

About 41 per cent respondents believe that the job opportunities in India are good and 43 per cent rate the country's economy as good, according to the Michael Page's India Job Confidence Index for Q3, 2015.

"The India Job Confidence Index is a testament to the growing positive sentiment that has swept the country. The trickle-down effect is evident with job-seekers from key metros slowly and steadily becoming more confident about their own value," Michael Page India Senior MD Sebastien Hampartzoumian said.

India fares better than Asia Pacific, where only 33 per cent job seekers think employment opportunities are good in the region.

In the Michael Page's first ever India Job Confidence Index for the third quarter, 2015, over 900 respondents participated from different organisations and sectors.

Other key findings are that 49 per cent Mumbaikars cite salary as the main motive when looking for a new job, while 47 per cent Delhiites are keen to develop new skills.

It also revealed that 59 per cent Delhiites and 71 per cent Chennaites would like to take up a job abroad. 18 per cent respondents believe it will take less than a month to find a job in India, while 29 per cent millennials are of the same opinion.

About 47 per cent respondents from Chennai have been looking for a job for 1-3 months, it says.

It also states that 18 per cent respondents believe it will take less than a month to find a job in India, while 29 per cent millennials are of the same opinion.
