More Women Return To Work Post Maternity

BANGALORE: This news comes as a huge boost to all those would be mothers to hear that the percentage of returning-to-work post maternity has increased a lot.



Maternity is the most important and crucial phases of a woman’s life and for those working mothers who continue in jobs till they can avail their maternity leave is a huge sigh. The companies keeping this in mind are coming forward to aid them by providing them with adoption leaves and other benefits urging their motherhood workers to return safe and fit, reports ET.  



A study was conducted by Interweave Consulting based on the best practices for maternity in the areas of IT/technology, BFSI, consulting, retail, hospitality, ITeS, manufacturing, telecom and media across 19 companies.



From the report it can be said that in 2014, 67 pct of women returned to their jobs post maternity showing a 9 pct increase compared to 2012.



Around 79 pct of companies are availing their employees with maternity benefits, adoption leaves and 57 pct of them are providing them with same duration as mandatory maternity leave along with it. Along with all this 53 pct of companies have HR and communication strategy for employees who will be availing paternity benefits and 21 pct conducted manager training for sensitivity of pregnant women.



As a result there is a healthy increase in return rate which is a good sign for the company and individual. Around 79 pct of companies are showing interest in caring about its employee as a family by allowing them to work from home and 32 pct have sabbatical policy in place, while 50 pct of them have tie-ups with crèches according to the survey.
