Jobs Up 5.7 Pct, Wages 16.9 Pct In 2011-12: Survey

The profitability of the factories increased by 15.64 percent to 4.51 lakh crore in 2011-12 from 3.9 lakh crore in 2010-11.
The gross fixed capital formation increased by 21.28 percent to 3.44 lakh crore in 2011-12 from 2.83 lakh crore in 2010-11.
The amount of interest paid by the factories increased by 37.07 percent to 1.2 lakh crore in the year under review from 88,020 crore in 2010-11.
The survey is conducted annually under the statutory provisions of the Collection of Statistics Act, 2008 and covers all factories employing 10 or more workers using power; and those employing 20 or more workers without using power.
The survey also covers bidi and cigar manufacturing establishments registered under the Bidi & Cigar Workers (Conditions of Employment) Act, 1966.
