IT Industry to Now Offer 25 Pct Hike for Top Performers

BANGALORE: Skills and Talent will rule the IT Sector this year, so those with specialization skills and expertise, this is the best time to showcase your skills as the IT industry is set to offer 25 percent hike in salaries for top performance reports ET.



As per sources, Information and Technology sector employees will witness 8 to 10 percent of hike this year, but the person with great expertise and skills may get a hike up to about 25 percent. IT professionals are expected to know many more than just writing codes in a programming language.



Programming languages like Java, Python and Objective C are very much in demand along with SAP professionals. IT players with the capability to build mobile apps for various platforms, big data scientists and helping in the analysis and testing of developed solutions.



Anuradha Ghose, Reawrds Practice Leader at Aon Hewitt said, “Key talent gets a 1.4 to 1.5 times salary increase compared to the rest. This could be either people with niche skills or high potential talent - the people who have been consistently high performers or have been rated fast-track performers.”



According to National Association of Software Services and Companies, Indian IT industry last year employed 3.1 million IT professionals among which 11-12 percent were domain specialists. It is now demanded that the professionals should be able to work in innovative development environments like Scala, Play Framework, Liferay, Spring, Hibernate and so on.



Magna Infotech chief executive, Anuraag Gupta said, “Companies have no choice but to give double or more than double the average hike to those who constantly upgrade their skills and domain expertise. They command 30-50 percent premium in the market.”
