India's Biggest Varsities: Osmania University Tops The Chart

Bangalore: The good news for Osmania University doesn’t seem to end this year. After recording one of the highest foreign student turnout for admission this season, it has been recognized as the biggest university in the country, reports Hemali Chhapia of TNN.



As per the latest data from the University Grants Commission, the varsity from the city of pearls is home to about 901 affiliated colleges, which is the highest in the country. With about 811 affiliated colleges in its belly, Pune University has emerged from the shadow of its much older counterpart from the city of dreams, and has become the second largest varsity in the nation. The next two positions are occupied by Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University and Rajasthan University. They are home to 800 and 735 colleges respectively.
