If the field in which you are serving is in demand or growing rapidly and you are highly specialized in that field, you can ask for a raise in your pay as you need to be rewarded well.



Lastly, if you are expecting for a pay raise without even contributing for any new responsibilities, consider improving on your skill set or education before asking for a pay raise.
