Hiring Activities Jumped 14 Pct Jump In Nov

NEW DELHI: Hiring activity registered a 14 pct jump in November, primarily driven by sectors like banking, financial services, insurance (BFSI) and software services, says a report. 

The Naukri Job Speak Index for November 2016 stood at 1,817, recording a growth of 14 pct in recruitments over the same period last year. Among the cities, Pune reported the highest growth in terms of recruitment at 32 pct.



"Jobspeak index continues to sustain the momentum gained over the past few quarters, with 14 pct year-on-year growth in November," Naukri.Com Chief Sales Officer V Suresh said. 

The growth is primarily driven by sectors like BFSI and software services and a slow but steady revival of non-IT sectors, Suresh said, adding "This trend is likely to continue and we can expect the index to further move north in 2017." 

BFSI jobs witnessed a 42 pct yearly growth while the insurance sector also saw jobs increasing by 43 pct in November 2016 when compared to November 2015. 

Technology industries like IT - software/software services as well as ITES/BPO registered jobs growth of 14 pct and 15 pct respectively in November 2016 as compared to the year-ago period. 

Amongst other industries, medical/healthcare saw a 24 pct year-on-year growth in jobs while education/teaching also witnessed a 35 pct increase. 

Functional areas associated with banking/insurance grew 22 pct year-on-year; accounts/taxation also grew 13 pct in November 2016. 

The job growth was witnessed in all cities, in line with the broad trend. Amongst the bigger metros, jobs in Delhi-NCR, Mumbai and Bangalore increased by 12 pct, 18 pct and 20 pct, respectively in November 2016 as compared to November 2015. 

Jobs in Chennai increased 12 pct year-on-year while the growth was 9 pct and 32 pct in Hyderabad and Pune respectively for the same time period. 

All tier-II cities also saw significant positive growth in jobs in November 2016 on a year-on-year basis, the report added.
