None of the recruiters would like to waste their time and if they say that they will go the extra-mile to contact you and inform that you didn’t make the cut, it is nothing more than a lie. In the best case, if you are lucky, you might receive a template rejection letter from a blind email address.

Best practice is this case could be something like using an applicant tracking system that informs the candidates about their rejection via email. Adding the candidate’s name and a personalized message can be extremely helpful.

However, for candidates screened through telephone, the best practice is to let them know directly that they are on longer in contention for the open position. Answering their queries and giving some valuable suggestions can go a long way to curb the disappointment.

Recruiters must understand that, turning down a job seeker in a professional manner is acceptable, but simply not bothering to inform them is in fact, cruel.

3. “Salary Depends On Experience; There’s No Real Set Amount.”

What this statement generally means is that, “I already have a figure in mind and there is room for negotiation. Now it is your expectation that determines as to whether I should continue this conversation or move on to the next candidate”.

An ideal practice in this situation can be something like being clear about the salary constraints and politely stating that their salary will be fixed based on the performance in the interview.
