BENGALURU: The new trend of working from home is becoming popular with professionals; however their bosses are concerned about its welfare, shows a new survey by JobBuzz, an employer-rating platform powered by TimesJobs.com. According JobBuzz survey, 30 percent of workers can do remote work for at least twice a week. On the other hand, in another survey held in 2014 stated that only 10 percent employees had been allowed to work from home, reports The Economic Times.

More than 60 percent employees say the biggest problem they are facing while working from home is the interference caused by family members or children. Mentioning these interruptions, 20 percent of workers say they feel more active at office than at home. On the flipside 42 percent of employees say they are productive no matter where they are working from - home or office. “While managers may have their doubts about work-from-home, it has become a major criterion for today's new-age professionals while deciding about joining a company and their career growth,” says Vivek Madhukar, COO, TimesJobs.com, reports ET.

From the Manager’s point of view, they also have their reasons for not allowing work from home. As per the survey, 32 percent bosses feel that such an approach comes up with a very less face-to-face interaction and teamwork, which is important in product and technology. Also, 28 percent managers feel employees are less active when they work from home where as 24 percent find it difficult in staying connected with employees. For 16 per cent bosses, attitudinal problems pose a major hurdle in allowing employees to work remotely. “A proper employee tracking mechanism is one strategy that can help employers get over their hesitation in allowing remote work policies. However, only 30 per cent employees in our JobBuzz survey stated their organizations have any such strategy in place,” adds Madhukar.
