Flexible Electronic Center To Come Up At IIT Kanpur

KANPUR: A flexible electronic center, where research will be conducted on electronic gadgets like TV and LCDs, will be set up at IIT Kanpur with the Union government giving its approval for it.
Sharing this information, IIT Kanpur Director Prof Indranil Manna yesterday said that the estimated cost for the project is Rs 133 crore.
Out of this, Rs 113 crore will be funded by the Department of Electronics and Information Technology at the Centre while IIT Kanpur will have to raise Rs 20 crore on its own, he said.
He claimed that this center was the first of its kind in the country.
Research will be conducted on electronic gadgets like TVs, LCDs, and on sensors, solar panels, display units, security packaging and how to create options of flexible display.
According to the Director, the work in this connection will commence within three months and the construction for the building will take around two years.
