Encourage Young Entrepreneurs for Job Creation: Sam Pitroda

New Delhi: Entrepreneurs need to be encouraged for creating the required 10 million jobs a year, technocrat Sam Pitroda said today.
India has about 55 crore young people below the age of 25 years and every year about two crore young people come out for jobs, he said, adding that new jobs have to come from young entrepreneurs.
"...of the 20 million (2 crore) at least you need to create 10 million (1 crore) new jobs. Ideally, you want to create 15 million (1.5 crore) new jobs. Where these jobs are going to come from. So, you need large number of entrepreneurs who are solving local problems," Pitroda, who is Adviser to the Prime Minister on Public Information Infrastructure, told reporters.
He added that these jobs are not going to come from the government.
He also said the government will operationalise the National Innovation Fund by end of March with an initial capacity of Rs 500 crore.
"Ultimately it (the fund) is going to be Rs 5,000 crore fund. We are launching it with Rs 500 crore," Pitroda said.
