BENGALURU: Today, there are more than 3,000 business schools in India producing lakhs of management graduates every year. But only a small fraction of them have found employment while the others struggle to find work. Excluding the top business schools like IIMs, XLRI, and Indian School of Business, most of the B-schools in India are churning out low standard graduates who remain largely unemployable or earning less than ten thousand rupees a month, if at all they find placements, points out the Associated Chambers of Commerce of India (ASSOCHAM) Education Committee study, as reported by Firstpost.

The study expresses grave concern for the degrading quality of education standards in these B-schools, showing that many of these schools are not accurately regulated. The result are shocking with only 7 percent of MBA degree holders being eligible for employment in India, excluding the graduates from IIMs and other top 20 ranking Indian B-schools. In the years 2014 and 2015, 220 B-schools have already shut down while 120 schools are expected to follow suit. The study also reveals certain significant reasons for the failure of India’s B-schools including lack of quality control and infrastructure, low-paying professions through campus placement, poor faculty, and archaic program of study. The study also portrayed that only handful of tested students had some acquaintance with the key industry terms and ideas in their area of expertise.

The report also shows that the value of now graduating IIM students is less superior than the students graduated in the past 15 years. The report further suggests that the core reason behind this situation is the quality of education imparted in the schools and lack of better faculty members due to existence of low salary systems.
