3. Doctors:

Doctors / physicians are reported to be 1.94 times more likely to commit suicide that average and for many years, this line of work had the highest rate of suicide compared to people of other profession. Greater stress, social isolation, barriers to get treatments, easy access to lethal drugs and sexual harassment are some of the major contributors for the high rate of suicides in this challenging line of work. In addition for doctors who seek help, the quality of treatment they get is often not as good as it should be. In response to these difficulties in getting help, doctors / physicians with suicidal tendencies may turn to self-medicating with prescription drugs and alcohol, which in turn increases the risk of drug addiction and other complications.
