BANGALORE: With many of the products and services evolving into technological, scientific and data driven enterprises, it’s time for students to shift their focus and secure jobs in STEM fields, which are red hot right now. But, the harsh reality is, most of the science, technology, engineering and math graduates hardly opt for these occupations. With a view to entice all such graduates into this field, we have put together a list of the hottest STEM jobs that entail hefty pay packages, as reported by Forbes.
#1 Petroleum Engineer
Median Pay: 2.18 lakh—23.43 lakh (As per PayScale)

A petroleum engineer is involved in nearly all of the stages of oil and gas field evaluation, development and production. Their main aim to extract oil from all sorts of wells and determine exactly how valuable a particular oil well will be for the oil company, which can have huge impact on a company’s profitability. 
According to Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) report, employment in petroleum engineering is expected to grow 26 percent by 2022 and this is more than double the rate of all jobs, and nearly triples the rate of all engineers.
