Odisha Students Bag Second Prize In Nasa Contest

BHUBANESWAR: A model designed by school students from Odisha has bagged a prize in a global contest co-sponsored by NASA Ames and the National Space Society, the school said Wednesday.



Zenith's Labyrinth, a space colony designed by Class 8 students of Bhubaneswar's KIIT International School bagged the second prize in the NASA Ames Space Settlement Design Contest 2014 in the Grade VIII category.



Six students - Aman Patnaik, Abhishek Mahapatra, Sai Krishanth P.M., Nitish Mohanty, Satwik Gadnayak and Saurik Mishra - worked for over 12 weeks to develop the futuristic model, the school said in a statement.



NASA Ames Research Center in conjunction with the National Space Society sponsors this global annual space settlement design contest for Class 6-12 students.



Engineers and scientists of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) select the winners.



The winners have been invited to participate in the International Space Development Conference to be held in Los Angeles in May, the statement said.
