"The 10-level interactive course 'Echoes' focuses on everyday communication and aims to develop listening-speaking skills of students gradually," State Council for Educational Research and Training (SCERT) faculty and English language consultant Shefali Ray said at a workshop in New Delhi.
The course trains high school-going students to use English for academic, social and career purposes in a global context. As students learn to use language for a variety of purposes, the special course will be useful for teachers to train students on using English for academic, social, and career purposes in the global context.
Making use of interactive methods and techniques, the course will help students to speak appropriately and fluently. "Teaching pronunciation of words, word stress, sentence stress, pauses in long utterances, intonation for different purposes were highlighted during the session," Ray told about 90 teachers from Bengaluru schools attending the workshop.
Teachers from National Public School, Delhi Public school, KLE group of schools and Sindhi High School participated in the workshop. "As a comprehensive course for students of classes 1 to 10, Echoes focuses on enhancing oral communication skills of Indian students," OUP managing director Ranjan Kaul said in a statement.
Packaged with audio CDs, the course will also help students gain confidence to face social situations and improve their academic performance. "We remain committed to providing high-quality materials to meet the requirements of teachers and learners," Kaul added.
