Private schools

Bangalore: Every Indian parent today has a desire to send their children to private schools as they have a high-level trust factor towards private schooling, and considers them being the best in offering quality education. A large section of society thus prefers sending their children to private schools which is leading to a decline in the number of students in government schools.

Education is the main priority for all Indian families, even in rural areas. Most families from the rural space struggle to send their kids to a private school, or at least dream of doing so.

The trust people had in government schools has eroded, showing an increment in the count of students in private schools. In the past seven years, government schools have experienced a massive loss of 8.32 lakh students, who have moved to private schools.

Unlike other countries, India believes that private schooling can let their children become better individuals with great skills.

According to latest analytical records of state education, prepared by Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, a heavy decline of 12.31 lakh students from class 1 to class 10 in government schools has occurred between 2006 and 2013. With an average rate of 2.19percent per year, an overall shift of over 13.14percent to private competitors has appeared in the last six years.

However, reports state that this phenomenon is trending in other Indian states like Kerala and Andhra Pradesh, while it is meager in Karnataka.

The RTE quota has pointed out that children from disadvantaged families can access to 25percent of the unaided schools which has heightened the problem of grazing students from government schools all the more.
