Bangalore: SASTRA (Shanmugha Arts, Science, Technology & Research Academy) University has struck a land-mark deal with Microsoft India, which enables students to have a hands-on experience on technical services, reports the Times of India.

As per the agreement, the tech giant will establish a state-of-the-art GTSC (Global Technical Support Center) technical lab at the campus. The students from the deemed university can use the various tools and facilities provided by the lab to gain in-demand skills and enhance their career potential.

A typical GTSC lab replicates a data centre and computing environment, which is intended to provide a first-hand experience of how to handle critical technical issues.

Thomas Payyapilli, general manager of GTSC recently launched the technical lab which is designed to provide students with an in-depth understanding of how to work in a technical services environment on campus.

It was also revealed that Microsoft India GTSC is inclined to facilitate access to technology, training and curriculum support at the lab. And in the words of Thomas, "Our engagement with SASTRA University reflects the potential that we see from students from the institute. Our engagement will enable students to realize the potential for a career in technical services, by providing training modules and the tools necessary to help students to gain experiences, learn and grow," reports the Times of India.

Director of developer support at Microsoft India, Chandrasekhar Gopalan was one of the other dignitaries who took part in the inaugural function.
