Infy rejects 94 percent job seekers in 2009
New Delhi: Leading software firm Infosys, living up to its reputation of being a dream employer, got over four lakh job applications last fiscal and had to reject a whopping 94 percent of them. But, about 28 per cent of the successful candidates, who were made job offers, did not join during the year.

"Over the last year, we received 4,00,812 applications from prospective employees and we continue to remain an employer of choice in the industry," Infosys has disclosed in its annual regulatory filing in the US, where its shares are listed at the Nasdaq Stock Exchange.

The company further said that out of these, around 77,000 applicants underwent written test, approximately 61,000 were interviewed and 26,200 job offers were made in the fiscal year 2009-10. This means that the company made employment offers to nearly six per cent of total applications received.

However, the company's total headcount witnessed a gross addition of only 18,905 employees, as per the same annual filing. Besides, the net addition, after taking into account the attrition during the year, to the company's payroll was 6,837 employees in the fiscal ended March 31, 2010.
Considering the gross addition numbers, the number of employees who joined the company during the year account for only 72.2 per cent of the total number of job offers meaning 27.8 per cent did not join.

Further, if the net addition numbers are taken into account, as much as 74 per cent of those having been made job offers during the year are not on its payroll.

Infosys also said in the annual filing that the attrition rate of its employees increased to 13.4 per cent in 2009-10, from 11.1 per cent in the previous year.

"Employees are our vital and most valuable assets. We have created a favorable work environment that encourages innovation and meritocracy. We have also set up a scalable recruitment and human resources management process, which enables us to attract and retain high caliber employees," it

Including its subsidiaries, Infosys employed approximately 1,13,800 employees at the end of last fiscal.

The company recruits new students from premier universities, colleges and institutes in India and through need-based hiring of project leaders and middle managers. Besides, it has also begun selective recruitment at campuses in the U.S., the UK, Australia and China.

It claims to "rely on a rigorous selection process involving a series of aptitude tests and interviews to identify the best applicants. This selection process is continually assessed and refined based on performance tracking of past recruits."

Those jobs are going to India were really done by a school pass out student here. Hight talented engineers think powers are wasted due to these Bodyshoping employers. Be aware of them

3: Companies like Infy, Wipro, TCS, HCL.... works upon service model. Tough competition force then to quote very low price for the projects hence they cant pay much to their employees. People earn in these companies through on-site opportunities. So getting into these companies is like buying a lottery ticket, if you are lucky enough to get on-site you will earn some bucks. These companies are not to fulfill technical aspirations.
What surprises me most is that some of these companies are there since more than 25 years and none of then have tried to come up with some world class product or any innovation in the industry. All they have done is boasted themselves as one of the most successful IT companies in India.This bare truth tells us the fact about the vision of these companies. If they are the best then what about Google, Apple, Adobe ....

5: I sincerely request people who want to get into software jobs to be patient for sometime in getting jobs.

There are a lot of jobs in banks Railways and civil services. Please do not degrade these posts. becuae u get pension if you are working for any of these big Government offices. (The pay is a little less) But there is no recession in these gov't offices. U get one month paid leave and u get bonusand other benefits but these are for long terms. Unlike in a software co or MNC the pay is Luicrative but think of the long working hours.
I'm a Teacher in bangalore and I teach the Overseas students who come to India for studies.I had a student who is from Thailand he married a Indian girl and Both were working for narayanamurthy's IT company getting a whooping salary of 2L per month last seven Years they made huge Money and hey also purchased a 3 bedroom in brigade towers for 65 l and the Repaying was for 25 years. but because of Recession they have asked these people to Resign. Now these people are working for a KPO in hyderabad for 25 K . They asked me to dispose their flat and they are living in a sBR house some 40 kms from their workplace now.
The Moral is simple. Please make use of your Brains in these Gov't Offices and live with your family peacefully.

Because in the comming years we do not know what will be the prices of essential commodities.

Hi Mr.BONDA. I believe that this is not ur real name. and can I tell you something You r a teacher and dont you know all Govt. jobs a occupied by quotas system... even if you score well you have to check how much you have scored for your quotas......

instead if you advised your students about saving and not buying 3 bedroom flats... buying cars..... INDIA wont be worried inflation.....

This aunty syndrome is the biggest reason for infosys being a so called dream company. C'mon lets face the reality.The company is a service provider not a software firm. Besides Finnacle, no other product has been made till date.U have big offices to boast of but personally u may not be able to buy even bike.Why? where is the money dude? they are the biggest exploiters working in the market.They have pathetic HR policies and no regards to personal development of the employee.They just want to make money and the employees are like blue collar workers in disguise of IT jobs.

9: I would suggest fresher & graduates to join Tech Mahindra. It is one of the best IT company i had ever worked. Unlike infy, wipro and TCS who treats their employees like bonded labour and in Media they present their company as dream company by giving money to media people to promote their company, Tech Mahindra doesn't do that to stands in News...i bet it had great working env + Good CTC. One more gud thing you will see in techmahindra.. it promotes low scoring candidate who didn't got 1st division in their graduation. It allows them also to join. This creates positive env among the low scoring people and with practical exp they starts permorming similar like 1st division degree holder. Even in many cases i have seen they promotes childrens of their security and house keeeping staffs. I'm working in this company for almost 4 years and it is the best company to start up and continue further. Come and join Tech Mahindra and create the next wave.

Appraisal letter for yr 2009-2010 not released yet

Need to work more than 10 hr a day , still the compensation is far below than industry standards

40% of the employees in every project has leaved the company in last 6 months.

I switched from IBM to Tech M and its only been 1.5 months but I see a heaven n hell difference between the two . It's total fun at techm with gud culture with great learning opportunities. I wish I had started my career here.

14: IT scenario in India looks rosy only from outside. When bigger companies can do this, then think what smaller companies do to their employees. If bigger companies treat like "bonded labourers",smaller companies treat employees like "SLAVES". And what a fresher gets after joining such a company is fraud after fraud,and fraud. Such companies not only hide their detailed ctc but they also lie about training, make you sign hefty bonds in lieu of training which they never provide. Even college lectures are better than their training.IT means exploitation.

17: Infoysys has earned its reputation as a company of long standing and nobody can erase such a fantastic rapport that their H.R built though ages. In the IT segment it was Infosys who thought of giving its employees Esops which was unheard off at that time, the comments that we see are very damaging and employee who quit Infosys should not stoop to such low levels and blabber something which effects their own image and still Aspiring youngster will look for opportunites with Infosys or Wipro.
The salary scale is directly related to the profitablity and the person specific and if you are really competent you will earn and if you are not you will be chucked out not only by Infosys even at other places.

Finally companies like infosys should also nuture rural people and bring them in par with city bred and from engineers they should also focus on other streams where there are many aspiring candidates who will really serve their interest.

Infy/Wipro please understand that publishing all these stupid news in media will not make you dream comany..Treat employees as employees.make there salary as much so that they can at least save something there in accounts beside living .

Who want to join infy when u are paying less then 40 % then other MNCs on the same level.Also u guys ar ehaving attendance for 9 or 9:30 hours weather work is there or not.Always treating human as resource.

I dont have any personal experience.. im just a final year student and its a teacher at my college placement unit who told that work at TCS is like working in a govt office and training period is like a paid holiday! Im sure that the whole thing is not true but i don't know what the real truth is.
