Indian Job Scenario Is Optimistic: Reveals Survey

BANGALORE: The job setting in India is now radiating an optimistic light with the employees who are confident in performing better over the next few months, as per a survey conducted by the UK-based recruitment agency Michael Page. The study pointed a challenge for employers to polish up their strategies to get and keep a hold of best talents.  



According to the Michael Page India’s Employee Intentions Report 2015-16 with career opportunities that is seen mounting up in the country, employees are gradually realizing their potential value in the market , reports ET.



Sebastien Hampartzoumian, Senior Managing Director, Michael Page India said "This is leading to high salary expectations, with more than a third of the respondents expecting to receive a salary increase of 26pct or more when changing roles." He affirms that this is producing high turnover with a high rate of 82 pct of employees anxious to switch roles within the next 12 months.



The survey was conducted on the online responses of over 300 employees and also takes up the collective insight from conversations with thousands of workers. The subjects of the survey represent wide range of professional occupation groups and posts from entry level to senior management. The survey discloses that employees in India look forward to a considerable rise in salary when changing roles. The most general expectancy in increase is 26pct or more while a 29pct of respondents look forward to an increase between 21-25pct.



Furthermore, the reports affirm that male employees are far more aggressive than their female employees when it comes to salary hike when switching jobs as 35 pct of men expect an increase of 26 pct or more while in comparison with 21 pct of females who expect similar salaries. The range in job change for career growth is close to two-thirds of survey respondents at 65 pct, which is more than the expectancy of increase in salary at 56 pct. The interest for company brand and reputation hold 45 pct of interest from its employees.
