BANGALORE: Among the world’s major countries, India has the youngest population and it is about time that the youth of the country is set to take the nation forward in terms of future progress. According to the recently released Census 2011, India is home to 315 million students.

With the above stats, the country does not only constitute the largest student body in the world, but this would also make it to the fourth largest country in the world in terms of student population, nearly touching the U.S. which is home to about 318 million students.

The recent census data also revealed that over 3.3 million students are above 30 years of age, while 12 lakh are above 60 years and 1.2 lakh are above 80 years.

There is no second thought that parents have been pushing their young ones to join play schools in an attempt to give them a head start for the competitive future. Due to this the data reported was remarkable and the total population estimated for 0-4 years in India is 112 million.

Another interesting aspect of the reveled data was that about 9.5 million of the students are marginal workers, that is, they are working on an irregular or part time basis, not more than six months in a year. In that about 60 percent of these working students are male and the remaining female.
