IIT Madras Alumni Association (IITMAA) will host a Thought Conclave – ‘IITMAA Sangam – Confluence for Impact’ on 29th September, 2018 to honour the Diamond Jubilee year of IIT Madras. The main objective of the event is to bring the eminent leaders under a single roof from across disciplines such as technology, banking, digital, healthcare and space travel who are powering India’s emergence as a 21st century leader on the global stage. The event will play host to around 1000+ alumni and students of IITs.

The Conclave will be inaugurated by Hon’ble Lt. Governor of Puducherry Dr. Kiran Bedi IPS (Retd.) and other speakers include former cricketer Anil Kumble, actor Rana Daggubati, Indian astronaut Wg.Cdr. Rakesh Sharma, Dr. Indu Bhushan, CEO, Ayushman Bharat (National Health Protection Mission) and National Health Agency besides Dr. Nachiket Mor, County Director, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Also, the association is organizing an event called ‘Research Roadshow @ IIT Madras’ on Friday (28th September 2018) that offers students a platform to work on their own ideas outside of academic curriculum.

Shuba Kumar, President, IITMAA, says, “This event is the inaugural edition of what we believe will become an annual ritual for IIT Madras alumni to discuss new ideas, collaborate to deliver impact and reconnect with each other as well as the IIT Madras ecosystem.”

IITMAA is connecting more alumni to the Institute through re-unions, thus providing more opportunities for students to connect with them regarding mentoring and learning about higher education opportunities. It also recognizes alumni and faculty involved in projects of social impact and invites proposals from non-profit organizations in various sectors like Education, Skill Development, Healthcare, and more to involve IITM alumni to support with mentoring, funding and volunteering.

Madhusudan C.P, Secretary, IITMAA, says, “IITMAA Sangam is the ideal platform to meet and interact with a large number of IITM Alumni and students. The topics chosen are not only of great interest to society at large but are also avenues where the Alumni and participants can contribute to significantly.”

Founded in 1964 after the graduation of its very first batch in July 1964, IIT Madras Alumni Association (IITMAA) reconnects the alumni with their fellow alumni, institute and students on the campus via activities and generates impact through several social and academic projects for a collective growth.
