Bangalore: Aspiring to join the IIMs? Be prepared to shell out some extra bucks than expected, as the country’s premier B-schools have become costlier than ever. Following the footsteps of the sister institutes at Ahmedabad and Bangalore, IIM-Calcutta has decided to part away from its student friendly image and is all set to raise its tuition fee by about 1 lakh to 1.5 lakh from the next academic year, reports Jhimli Mukherjee Pandey of TNN.

However, in spite of the recent hike, IIM-C still remains the cheapest among the big three. IIM-Ahmedabad and IIM-Bangalore charge 18 lakh and 17 lakh respectively for a two-year MBA programme, while the same course at IIM-C will now cost a good 2-2.5 lakh less compared to the other two, even after the hike.
