Bangalore: Entrance exams have become a compulsion in today’s world for every student who wants to step into a desired path. Preparing for entrance exams has become an exhausting activity and 48 percent of students are finding it extremely hectic, according to a new survey.

The study included insights from 5,000 students from across 15 city colleges, which was a part of a project for students of St Xavier’s College in Dhobi Talao.

“Students feel pressured and their identity becomes linked to an entrance test performance,” said Avkash Jadhav, professor in charge of the project.  “And even after cracking a test, the race doesn’t end. Where is our system heading?”

Also, 90percent of them said that teaching privately has become popularized to some extent, when compared to teaching in college classrooms.

The Education Department has said that it would conduct an enquiry on how coaching institutes are tying up with junior colleges to train their students for entrance exams.
